Song Builder
Stack up an intro, verses, a chorus and an ending. Pick the chords for each part by number.
Press Play and hear your song with piano, drums and a melody. Then play along, or take the chart to your keyboard.
New tool. The melody is made by the computer from your chords, so it is a starting idea, not a finished song.
How the computer helps
When Make it sound better is on, the Song Builder does what a church musician would do. It slips a
passing chord in front of some changes (a 1 seven before the 4, a 3 seven before the 6 minor, a 6 seven before the
2 minor), lets the bass walk up into the next chord, and adds a drum fill at the end of each part. Added chords have
a dashed border in the chart so you can see and learn them.
When Play along is on, the piano drops out and a bass and drums keep playing. You get a count-in of four
clicks, the chord that is coming next, and a keyboard picture of each chord: left hand in blue, right hand in orange.
Use Loop this part to practice one part over and over, and Slower until you can keep up.
The melody uses the notes of each chord on the strong beats and steps between them, and it repeats each time the
same part comes back, the way a real verse or chorus does.
