His Child

An original worship song, words by Henry Q Allen. Here is the chord chart, free, with the numbers under every chord. The chorus walks the circle, and one chord pulls it home every time.

Key of D minorabout 65 beats a minuteup to F minor at the bridge

Both print clearly in black and white. No sign-up needed.

The chord chart for His Child in D minor. Verse, pre-chorus, chorus, tag, bridge and final chorus in bars, with scale-degree numbers under each chord, left-hand shapes, and the song in C.
The regular-print chart, one page.

The move to learn

Dm   Gm   C   F   A

The chorus walks 6, 2, 5, 1. Each chord moves down a fifth to the next one. Then A, the 3 chord made major, pulls it right back home to Dm. If you know the 7-3-6, you already know that pull.

The song is in D minor, and we count it in F, its major key. In C the chorus is Am, Dm, G, C, then E back to Am.

Listen for the key change at the bridge. The whole song moves up to F minor and stays there. The numbers do not change. Only the key does. The verse also ends on D major, the 6 made major, and it points to Gm at the pre-chorus. Try it by ear.

Who wrote this. I started learning piano at thirty-five, because my pastor asked me to become the church musician. I play by ear, every Sunday at my church in St. Louis since March 2007. I write these songs, and then I chart them the way I would want to learn them.
