Open Heaven

An original worship song, words by Henry Q Allen. Here is the chord chart, free, with the numbers under every chord. The whole song is four chords. The new thing is the feel, a push in the chorus that makes it sound like worship.

Key of Bbabout 70 beats a minutefour chordschorus two chords a bar

The chord chart for Open Heaven in Bb. Verse, pre-chorus, chorus and bridge in bars, with scale-degree numbers under each chord, left- and right-hand shapes, and the song in C.
The regular-print chart, one page.

The move to learn

Eb Bb   F Gm   Eb Bb   F

The chorus is 4, 1, 5, 6, two chords a bar. The second chord in each bar comes early, on the "and" of 2. Count it out loud. 1 and 2 AND 3 and 4 and. The second chord lands on that loud AND.

These are the same four chords in the same key as Thank You for Your Love. Start on the 4 and lean ahead, and they sound like worship. In C the chorus is F C, G Am, F C, G.

Listen at the end of the bridge. The right hand plays Eb while the bass plays F. That is Eb over F, the 4 over the 5, and it is the worship way into the last chorus. The song ends on Gm, the 6, not the 1. Some hear it as Bb6, the same notes. Try it by ear.

Who wrote this. I started learning piano at thirty-five, because my pastor asked me to become the church musician. I play by ear, every Sunday at my church in St. Louis since March 2007. I write these songs, and then I chart them the way I would want to learn them.
